BMS 8th grade students recently participated in an enriching learning experience with a visit from local optometrist Dr. Lisa Martin. During the visit, Dr. Martin supported the physical science curriculum by providing in-depth instruction on concave and convex lenses. She also explained how corrective lenses support vision, how to interpret an eye prescription, the meaning of 20/20 vision, and the specific vision requirements for various careers. The presentation included hands-on demonstrations with professional tools such as lenses, cataract implants, optokinetic drum, and more; allowing students to make meaningful real-world connections to classroom learning. This experience enhanced student engagement and reinforced the practical applications of science in everyday life.

Honoring Bainbridge native Mr. Wilbur Johnson — a dedicated Decatur County Vocational Agricultural teacher whose leadership, innovations, and commitment to students and community helped grow agriculture and opportunity across our county. So today we honor Mr. Johnson, for cultivating futures and deep roots in Decatur County.

BMS wants to take a minute and give a heartfelt thank-you to Officer Hines and CPL Fletcher, two dedicated school police officers who keep our halls safe every day. From greeting students each morning to quietly checking classrooms and building relationships with students and staff, they do the important, often unseen work of keeping our school community secure and cared for. Thank you Officer Hines and CPL Fletcher!

Today we recognize a few BMS FFA members that participate in other Agricultural Experiences such as Sheep, Goat, and Swine Production as well as Agricultural Production Placement. These students and many others devote numerous hours yearly to extracurricular agricultural experiences.
